Ganesha Jayanti Puja ---- Ganesh Jayanti is the birthday or Jayanthi of Lord Ganesha observed on Magha Shukla Paksha Chaturthi, the fourth day in the month of Magha especially in Maharashtra, some parts of Karnataka and Goa. In 2010, Ganesh Jayanti date is January 19 Lord Ganesh is worshipped with Shodashopachar puja and offered special recipes as naivedya. Special recipes are prepared with Til or sesame. Hence the festival is also known as Til Kund Chaturthi or Tila Kunda Chavithi. The popular Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi is celebrated in Bhadrapad month (August – September).
